What do you specialize in recruiting, and what types of roles/industries do you love working with most?
I’ve worked in corporate and agency recruitment for 10 years and an additional 5 years of in employment counselling and government administration. I LOVE recruiting in all industries, but specialize in Engineering, Construction and Trades recruitment, as well as Executive Search spanning numerous industries across Canada and the US.
What’s your “recruitment superpower”?
My “recruitment superpower” is finding rare unicorns in niche roles. I have a relentless drive to prove that there IS a great candidate for every role, and to bring true value to companies via custom recruitment strategies.
What role do you secretly love filling or selling the most?
I don’t think I can pick one that I secretly love one specific role! If I had to pick, it would be anything in Leadership. I admittedly love connecting with Leaders and discussing strategy, learning about the path they took to get where they are, then aligning them with the opportunities that fan their fire while simultaneously giving a company an employee who is going to be hugely impactful to their operations.
What does a great candidate or client experience look like to you?
To me, a great candidate experience is rooted in empathy. It’s really understanding what they are looking for in various categories (scope of role, compensation, culture, growth opportunities, etc.) and then aligning the right options accordingly. All too often candidates tell me about how another Recruiter has tried to “convince” them to pursue a role that really didn’t match what they were looking for. I put myself in their shoes (and have been in those shoes myself as a candidate) to offer open communication, authenticity, and to ultimately ensure the role is well-aligned for both candidate and employer.
What’s one thing people are often surprised to learn about recruitment?
One thing that often surprises people about recruitment is how busy it is! Because I work with both employer clients and candidates, the workload is never-ending – but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
What’s your go-to way to recharge outside of work?
My go-to way of recharging outside of work is yoga and the gym. It’s a great offset to the busy desk-oriented workday and allows me physically and mentally refresh!
Coffee order of choice?
My coffee order is intense – judge away! Grande lactose-free Americano misto with an extra shot of espresso, heated to 180 degrees, cinnamon powder on top, in a venti cup with room, a pinch of salt on the top and of course a pup cup for my Paw-sistant!
Cats, dogs, or “I’ll pet anything”?
Dogs 100%
Go-to hype song?
No specific hype song, but will likely be something form the 90s/early 2000s – extra hype if it ‘s a remake or mashup!
One thing you could talk about for hours?
Two things I could talk about for hours (couldn’t pick one) are recruitment strategy and philosophy/mindfulness. I geek out to both equally 😊
