We are currently seeking a dynamic Business Development Representative with dock and door industry experience/knowledge. The Business Development Representative will be a key player in the growth of the Ottawa area by identifying new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and driving revenue growth by selling our products and services to
Here’s what you will do:
- Identify and prospect new customers in the manufacturing, warehouse, distribution sectors, as well as expand into new and relevant customer bases.
- Prospect via phone, email, and in-person visits to generate leads and schedule meetings.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential sales opportunities.
- Conduct initial needs assessments with clients to understand their requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Promote and sell a range of equipment, industrial doors, loading docks, and related accessories.
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations, both virtually and on-site, to showcase the benefits and features of products.
- Provide accurate product information, including pricing, specifications, and availability.
- Develop tailored proposals and quotes based on customer needs and specifications.
- Work closely with different departments to ensure accurate order processing, product availability, and timely delivery.
- Manage the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to closing, while maintaining a high level of customer engagement throughout.
- Establish and nurture long-term relationships with clients to drive repeat business and referrals.
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up after sales to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activity in CRM software.
- Keep up-to-date on industry trends, competitor offerings and new products to stay competitive in the market.
- Provide regular updates on sales activity, forecasts, and performance metrics to Leadership.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education in Business or other relevant area of study is an asset / preferred.
- Hands-on experience in the door and dock industry is an asset (ex: Technician, Project Management, Estimating)
- school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Business, Sales, or a related field is a plus.
- At least 1 year of full cycle sales experience in commercial and or residential garage door construction/service industry. Other relevant / transferrable industry experience with similar customers and projects will be considered.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers. Bilingual proficiency (English and French) is an asset but not required.
- Basic technical knowledge of dock equipment, industrial doors, or related products is preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with an ability to offer customers relevant solutions and options and consistently close sales.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet sales targets.
- Computer proficient: MS Office Suite and CRM (Salesforce, Hubspot, or similar) is required.
- Valid drivers license and suitable driving record with an ability to travel within a 1 hour radius of Ottawa and/or to trade shows occasionally is required.
