Operations Manager

Overview:
MT Talent Solutions Inc. is proud to partner with a trusted client to source an Operations
Manager
for a newly created role.
This role reports directly to the President and will oversee the Service Team (Commercial and Personal Insurance). The manager will ensure the efficient, compliant, and client focused operations of the Team. The Manager is also responsible for Team performance, including streamlining workflows, designing and implementing training plans, procedural documents, and operational resources. This role is key to the Leadership team and participates in building rapport with Insurance companies and clients, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of planning and brokerage growth strategies.
The Manager will perform all duties in alignment with the company’s core values and operating policies while fostering positive relations with staff, stakeholders, clients, and the community.
Here’s what you will do:
- Delegates responsibilities to the Team Lead(s) to handle minor issues as they arise, but will step in and support or action items as needed.
- Design and implement training plans, procedural documents, and operational resources to ensure support staff have the required tools, resources, knowledge, and support they require to execute their job duties.
- Verify that Account Executives, Managers and Assistant staff are following processes and procedures, ensure accuracy and quality of work.
- Assist the President in holding the Account Executive’s accountable for monthly sales through regular meetings and quarterly individual production meetings.
- Work with HR on any items related to employee performance, punctuality/attendance, etc.
- Work collaboratively with HR on recruiting and onboarding activities.
- Organize and lead recurring meetings with staff to review processes and troubleshoot problem cases as a team.
- Participate in strategic planning and growth meetings as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Act as a liaison between accounting and support team to ensure constructive, clear communication between teams in conjunction with the Senior Business & Client Strategy Manager and HR.
- Support the Senior Business & Client Strategy Manager with staff scheduling and management of monthly staff schedules according to operational requirements.
- Act as a representative of the company by participating in external networking events.
Here’s what you will need to be successful:
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in a relevant area of study: Insurance, Business or similar.
- RIBO license in good standing. Licensing in other provinces and/or additional designations/certifications are a definite bonus!
- At least 10 years of experience in commercial and personal insurance. Experience in a Brokerage is required.
- A minimum 2 years’ management experience in the insurance industry.
- Proven leadership skills with a focus on mentorship, coaching, training.
- Demonstrated performance management skills, experience creating and managing employee training plans, operating procedures, workflows.
- Highly computer proficient, including MS Office and industry—specific software such as Power Broker, PolicyWorks, EPIC.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to present ideas and information to various levels of employees, clients, stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning / thinking skills.
- Highly organized, diplomatic, proactive, versatile.
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and accountability.
