We are proud to partner with our client who has produced quality products for over 60 years as they add a new Manufacturing Process Engineer  to their team.  This is a straight day shift (Monday to Friday) with an incredibly stable company that has recently made a huge investment to upgrade and modernize their equipment and operations. The Engineer will serve as a technical lead and a direct extension of the Engineering Manager. This role provides hands-on engineering leadership, supports independent decision-making, and proactively resolves technical and production issues in a fast-paced foundry environment. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in non-ferrous foundry methods and will be trusted to oversee day-to-day engineering activities, support shop-floor execution, and escalate issues with clear, practical recommendations.

Here's what you will do:
 
  • Standardize clear, concise work instructions on travelers
  • Maintain and improve engineering documentation, travelers, and standards
  • Lead new process design for non-ferrous castings, including gating and risering
  • Drive new product launches from concept through production validation
  • Support customer onboarding through feasibility reviews and technical alignment
  • Lead and participate in technical design review meetings with customers and suppliers
  • Oversee design and drafting of foundry tooling layouts with a focus on manufacturability
  • Support estimation of new parts and costing updates for existing parts.
  • Provide engineering oversight and technical direction to the foundry tooling shop
  • Support capacity planning aligned with production and growth requirements
  • Identify process risks and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Lead and support in-house welding operations for casting repair
  • Act as the Engineering Manager's delegate for day-to-day engineering execution
  • Proactively and autonomously handle production and engineering issues, escalating when necessary
  • Drive accountability across engineering and tooling teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives 
 
Here's what we are looking for:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial).  P. Eng designation an asset. PMP is an asset.
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting. Preference to those from metal /steel industry or foundry operations
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant methods, such as gating, risering, and solidification principles
  • Experience with tooling design, layouts, and manufacturing constraints
  • Experience with customer-facing experience in technical reviews and new product launch support
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work in cross-functional teams 
  • Influential and strong presentation skills
  • Solid computer skills including MS Office, ERP and project management software. AutoCAD proficiency is required. 
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
  • Confident, decisive, and technically proficient 
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to meet defined deadlines, pivot priorities as needed
